Machinist Training Program

Standard 7 Month (905 hour) Program Scope and Objectives

This is an intense program for individuals wanting to learn the basics of machining. Trainees learn the setup and operation of conventional machining equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses and saws. instruction is also provided in safety, quality control and inspection procedures, shop theory, precision measuring insturments, mathematics, blueprint reading and basic CNC opertation. Instruction time is divided between classroom, computer lab, and shop, providing an unusual blend of practical theory and hands-on experience. The machinist Trainee may find entry-levl employment as an operator of a lathe, mill, grinder, drill press, etc in the machining and tooling field.

Program Length

Classes are five days a week, Monday through Friday, morning (7:30am to 12:30pm), afternoon (1:00pm to 6:00pm), and evening (6:00pm to 11:00pm). This program is a 725 hour classroom/shop program with 180 clock hours of additional outside homework. Total instructional time is 905 hours. 

There are a total of 5 program modules. Each module is six weeks long (145 hours).

Module 3: Conventional Mills 2, Lathe 2 and Surface Grinders

Module 4: CNC Mills and CNC Lathes

Module 5: CNC Mills 2, CNC Lathes 2, EDM and Robotics
